Week 1- Arrival

My first day in Berlin is a day that I won’t ever forget. The thing with studying abroad is that you have an image in your head of what you’re going to see when you get there. I was so excited to arrive in a beautiful city with the sun out and people smiling, but when I got here it was the exact opposite. Culture shock is definitely a real thing. The moment I walked out of the airport I was welcomed to dark, grey skies and a big cloud of smoke straight to my face.

However, after my friend Nick and I moved in and met a new friend from Argentina named Lu, we began to see the beauty of Berlin is something completely different than its traditional meaning. Being in a place with so much history and beautiful architecture mixed with innovation and technology makes Berlin one of the most unique cities I have ever been to. For the first week, Nick, Lu, and I travelled around the city and hit the usual tourist spots and it was amazing to see how different some areas of the city are from each other.

As more people are moving in to our international dorm I have been able to learn about others cultures and I have never been so excited in my life!
